God is a God of order, and when our lives get out of order, distraction often follows. In Luke 10:38–42, Martha was serving Jesus, but her service became a distraction because it came before sitting at His feet. Scripture shows that activity is not the same as intimacy; we can be busy for Jesus and still miss what is most necessary. When His presence is no longer our priority, comparison, anxiety, and doubt can take root, just as they did in Martha’s heart. Mary chose the “one thing” that was needed. She sat at the Lord’s feet and listened, and Jesus said that portion would not be taken from her. Service is good, but it must flow from relationship, because apart from Him we can do nothing. Choose the better part by putting His presence first and allowing everything else to flow from time spent with Him.

The fire of God is not just an emotional moment—it is a holy refining that reveals what’s real and burns away what doesn’t belong. Our Sunday morning message from the Holy Spirit Fire Conference calls believers back to the truth, that Jesus baptizes with the Holy Spirit and fire, not for hype, but for purification and power. Just as fire refines silver and gold, God uses His presence to cleanse us. Like Paul in Acts 28, we learn that excuses cannot be the reason our spiritual fire dies, even in dry and uncomfortable seasons. Someone may help ignite the fire in us, but we are responsible to gather the fuel—God’s Word, prayer, fasting, and sacrifice. The fire doesn’t create the enemy; it exposes what was hidden, and once it’s revealed, we must deal with it. When attacks come, we don’t retreat or extinguish the fire. We use the fire to shake off what tried to destroy us and keep moving forward in victory.

The Power of a Decree | Pastor Mike Cornell | Oceans Unite Okeechobee Campus

Sunday Feb 01, 2026
God calls His people to build their lives on the supremacy of His Word, not on feelings, opinions, or circumstances. From the very beginning in the garden, Satan’s strategy has been to distort what God has said, because victory begins with trusting and honoring Scripture. Jesus Himself declared that we live by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God, showing that God’s Word is our true source of life and strength. When we decree a thing, we are not creating our own judgments, but speaking and agreeing with what God has already written. The Word of God carries creative power, and believers are called to fill their hearts with Scripture so their mouths can speak truth in faith. Through praise, declaration, and obedience, we stand firm in spiritual warfare, not against people, but against spiritual forces. As we declare God’s promises over sickness, opposition, provision, and overwhelming challenges, we can trust that His Word will accomplish what He sends it to do. This is the honor of the saints: to speak what God has said and walk boldly in His established truth.

Believers in Christ are not without authority, but that authority must be understood and exercised according to Scripture. In this message, Pastor Mike shows how our authority comes from Jesus Himself, who was given the name above every name and has delegated authority to those who believe in Him. Biblical authority is not about control over people, but about standing against the work of the enemy within the boundaries God has established. Scripture teaches that the enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy, while Christ came to give life, and believers are called to walk in faith and obedience rather than fear or passivity. This authority begins personally—over our thoughts, actions, and submission to Christ—and extends to our homes and areas of influence. When believers know who Christ is and understand who they are in Him, they are equipped to resist the enemy and live out the purposes of God. Walking in true authority brings order, freedom, and glory to God, not through human strength, but through faith and obedience.

The anointing is not a distant idea or a special experience reserved for a few—it is God’s presence at work in the lives of His people. In this message, Pastor Mike teaches what it means to be anointed and how the Holy Spirit empowers believers for service, obedience, and daily faithfulness. Scripture shows that the anointing brings clarity, strength, healing, and freedom, not through human effort, but through God’s power at work within us. This teaching explores how the anointing flows through a life that seeks God personally, lives with wisdom, and stays ready for His leading. It also reminds us that the anointing is cultivated through relationship, preparation, and a willingness to walk closely with the Lord. Whether in personal devotion or gathered worship, God meets His people with purpose and direction.

As we step into a new year and a new season, Pastor Mike shows us the role of fasting as a humble, intentional way to refocus our hearts on the Lord. Faith and action often work together, helping us loosen unhealthy attachments and grow in trust and dependence on God. Rather than striving for instant results, the focus stays on a steady, prayerful posture that welcomes God’s guidance and strength. We’re reminded that God meets us as we seek Him with sincerity.

What does it really look like to respond when God speaks through His Word? This message invites us to see Scripture as a mirror, not just something we hear, but something that reveals who we are becoming in Christ. We can see from James 1, Corinthians and other passages, that we as believers are encouraged to move from agreement to action, allowing God’s Word to shape character, choices, and daily living. It reminds us that obedience is not about pressure or perfection, but about responding in faith and humility. The message also highlights love as the foundation of all we do, showing that genuine faith is expressed through loving action, not just words. With a steady focus on a kingdom mindset, we’re encouraged to see ourselves as active participants in God’s work. This teaching will strengthen your faith as you continue growing as both a hearer and a doer of God’s Word.
